OVERVIEW
This comprehensive training is designed for beginners and experienced advocates of Medicaid for the elderly and disabled. We will discuss eligibility, services covered, the Medicaid waivers, waiver waiting lists, Pathways managed care, and the application and review process. We will highlight changes and review the current status of FSSA’s eligibility rules and application processing. Emphasis will be placed on financial eligibility and planning for long-term care. We will explain rules on estate recovery and transfers of assets. Finally, we will discuss use of the administrative appeal process, judicial review, and other litigation. Practical solutions will be offered for navigating the system.

FACULTY
DENNIS FRICK is Director of the Senior Law Project of Indiana Legal Services, Inc. He has represented Medicaid clients in administrative appeals, rule-making hearings, and in state and federal court. He is a member of the Indiana State Bar Association and the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys (NAELA). He is a past chair of the Elder Law Section of the Indiana State Bar Association.
CLAIRE LEWIS is the former the Director of the Senior Law Project. She now has a private practice in Indianapolis where she focuses on Medicaid planning. She was Editor and Contributing Author for several editions of the Indiana Bar Foundation's Laws of Aging. She is a member of the Indiana State Bar Association and the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys (NAELA). She is a past chair of the Elder Law Section of the Indiana State Bar Association and the Indiana Chapter of NAELA, and a current board member of IN-NAELA.
ANN SMITH is a staff attorney with the Senior Law Project of Indiana Legal Services, representing Medicaid clients. She is a graduate of Indiana University McKinney School of Law, a member of the Indiana State Bar Association, and a current board member of IN-NAELA.
