The Indiana Rules of Professional Conduct requires lawyers to “keep abreast of changes in the law and its practice, including the benefits and risks associated with relevant technology”. This program will look at the relevance of A.I. on the profession and the ethics and malpractice considerations when using it in your practice.

its implementation can create ethics and malpractice risks. A look
at AI and Indiana Rules of Professional Conduct 1.1. Competence;
1.5. Fees; 1.6. Confidentiality of Information; 1.18. Duties to
Prospective Client; 3.1. Meritorious Claims and Contentions;
3.3. Candor Toward the Tribunal; 4.1. Truthfulness in Statements
to Others; 4.4. Respect for Rights of Third Persons; and 5.3.
Responsibilities Regarding Nonlawyer Assistants.

11:15 A.M. Bias and Secondary Trauma in the Legal Profession. It is common for clients to have been traumatized as victims of
abuse, crime or other adversity. It is just as common for attorneys,
law firm staff and others in the profession to be affected emotionally
by this trauma. This session helps identify situations leading to
secondary trauma, symptoms, and ethical considerations under the
Indiana Rules of Professional Conduct 1.1. Competence; 1.3.
Diligence; 1.4 Communication; and 8.4 Misconduct
